There’s nothing more exciting than finally being able to get some time off so you can get set to go on your next big adventure! It’s important to steer away from the mundane and monotonous lives that we lead to take a break and challenge ourselves to take new and exciting adventures in places that we’ve never been before. However, in order to ensure that everything goes as planned without any unexpected or avoidable issues, it is necessary to be prepared. This is why we’ve compiled a list of the 10 most essential items you need to pack for your next big adventure.

Powerbank

Regardless of the kind of trip you’re taking, one thing that you always need to have on you is a power bank or two. This is so you can ensure that you phone or camera is always charged, even when you’re out in the wilderness without any access to electricity.

Universal adapter

In the event that you do have access to electricity, there is always the possibility that your plugs won’t fit in to the outlets available. In this event, then it’s important that you have a universal adapter so that you don’t have to worry about any of your electrical appliances working. 

Flashlight

Having a flashlight packed at all times is crucial because they really do come in handy in situations when there may be a blackout or if you’re out in the wilderness at night. There are tactical flashlights available now, which are basically much more convenient than your standard flashlight. This is because they are small and compact, the light emitted is much stronger and you can even get the rechargeable option, which will prove to be much more convenient than having to keep buying batteries every now and then.

Water bottle & steripen

You may have access to water, but it’s always a good idea to have a full water bottle with you at all times because you never know when you might not have access to clean drinking water. You also need to have a Steripen if you’re going backpacking or camping. What this is, is a device that looks like a pen and is designed in order to sterilize water to make it drinkable. You can use this for cooking or if you’re out camping and run out of drinking water.

Camera

No adventure is complete if you don’t make memories and no memory is as good if you don’t have something to remember it by. This is why you simply cannot forget to bring your camera along with you. Obviously your phone already has a camera, and some of them are very good too, but honestly there’s nothing quite like using an actual camera. Look into options that have long battery life and that can withstand bad weather conditions. You might also want to look into water cameras that you can use underwater because this will be great to use if you’re visiting the seaside or if you run into a bit of rain.

The right clothes

You never want to be caught in a situation where you don’t have the right kind of clothes for the weather you’ll be facing. In order to do this effectively, you need to get down to some research about where you’re going and understand what the weather will be like. Keep in mind that some climates are not that steady, so it could fluctuate at any time. A good idea would be to get a weather app that could give you the forecast a week in advance, because that will help a great deal. Overall though, just make sure that you take the essentials, such as a jacket, enough change of clothes for the amount of time you’re going, and extra clothes in case yours get wet or ruined. 

Shoes

Depending on the location, you need to be able to take with you the right shoes for the kind of terrain you’re going to be walking on. A sturdy and strong pair of boots that can withstand difficult terrain and weather is a must, and also take some comfortable sneakers and a pair of sandals. Plenty of socks is a must as well.

Toiletries

It can be very easy to forget the things we take for granted! So be sure to pack a toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush and any other bathroom essentials that you may need. If you use a certain kind of product, don’t just assume that it’s going to be available. It’s better to pack everything you need before you head out just in case you don’t get a chance to shop for the things you need.

First aid kit

This is probably the most important item that you need to pack. Get yourself a small first aid kit and stock it with every possible item you might think you’ll need in case of emergency. See what medication you already need and have that available, and also pack with the assumption that things might go wrong. 

Swiss army knife

A swiss army knife can come in handy in so many different kinds of situations, so go out and get yourself one that has everything included. A knife, nail clippers, scissors, bottle opener- the whole nine yards. These are compact and are extremely easy to carry, and could really save you a lot of trouble in a number of situations.

 

Big adventures call for big preparations! This is why it’s crucial that you plan accordingly in a manner that will have you prepared for any possible situation. You need to consider the terrain that you are travelling to and you always want to look up the weather conditions so that you can have all the clothes and items you need to ensure that you have a stress free trip. Don’t forget about your passport and wallet of course, and any kind of medication that you’re taking because you never know whether you’ll be able to find it or not in the place that you’re going to.
