Nationalism and xenophobia are the evils that created Nazi Germany, restrictionist trade policies, the drug war, and every other governmental-ill in this world.
I’m sure the soldier’s intentions were pure, but there’s nothing good or just about burning poppy fields or killing supposed terrorists without enough evidence to pass the scrutiny of proper law. The evil is top-down, and the good is bottom-up, but that doesn’t just give every soldier a pass.
Loss of limb movement is tragic in all circumstances, but I have to say I feel a little worse about the guy who gets hit by a bus than the guy who blindly (anything else is treason) follows the Chief.
Imagine there’s no government. It’s easy if you try.
